The Trouble With Mickey

Mickey Mouse does not like to be woken up from his nap...not even to go trick-or-treating...

Oh, and he hates his ears...

Mickey's had way too much (candy) tonight...

Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween!!! We had tons of fun and tons of chocolate tonight. Natalie was a gypsie, Kendall was Cinderella, and Nolan was Mickey Mouse. We started the night off with our friends Sara, J.J., and Ally. After over an hour of diligent trick-or-treating(and a scraped knee), we took a ride over to our Gammy's house. Well, it wasn't exactly Gammy who answered the door... it was a witch! Kendall was definately startled, and tooked a few steps back, not really sure at first who had answered her Gammy's door. Nolan just looked at her and said, "Hi Gammy," not scared or fooled at all by her makeup or costume. Natalie also knew it was her Gammy in a costume, but certainly enjoyed that she had dressed up this year. When we got inside Gammy's house, we were excited to see Patty!!! The kid's godmother, Patty, came into town to celebrate Halloween with us. We all went trick-or-treating around Gammy's block. We doubled our candy on Gammy's street. We finished the night with a pizza, some candy, and a visit with Patty, Gammy, and Gampy. It was a very nice Halloween.

Our Pumpkins

Nolan's Dracula Mickey Mouse Pumpkin
Kendall's Minnie Mouse Pumpkin

Natalie's Jasmin Pumpkin

Mom's Cinderella Pumpkin

Dad's Frankenstein Goofy Pumpkin

Pretty cool, right?

The Pumpkin Adventure

So, Mom was feeling ambitious one day in early October, and decided to order some pumpkin carving kits for our pumpkins this year. I thought it would be fun for us to do together. We were so excited when they arrived. Everyone picked out their own pattern. The girls gutted their pumpkins, and poked their whole patterns with minimal help. Dad and Mom helped with the carving. Daddy is a much better pumpkin carver than Mom, especially when it comes to the princesses. It certainly was a lot of work, but we had so much fun. After approx. 15 hours of total labor ( 3 hours/pumpkin), we came up with some pretty snazzy pumpkins.

Mom and Dad

Here are the proud parents. We love spending time with our family. This year we spent a lot of time doing fun things. We hit Community Days, The Chemung County Fair, The Italian Festival, and the Farmland Animal Park this summer. We also went on many boat rides with our friends Rich, Kathy and Sara. Mom and Dad went to Alexandria Bay this summer for our first vacation(Aunt Dani watched the kids for us). We had so much fun, but were glad to be home because we missed the little ones. The grand finale this year was a daytrip to Darien Lake with the kids for a day full of water rides, and an evening full of other rides (Natalie and Mom even braved the infamous "Viper"). Recently we also went to the Harvest Festival, and the Pumpkin Farm. We went through a cornmaze (for almost 2 hours), dug to find a needle in a haystack, and went on a hayride. We choose our pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, and brought them home for exciting carvings (look for future posts).

DAD'S WORDS OF WISDOM: "A clean house is a happy house."

Mr. Nolan

Nolan is 2, and full of mischeif. He enjoys doing puzzles, cookies, Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse, and roughhousing with his daddy. He enjoys drawing (he can make an actual face already) and is speaking pretty well and pretty constantly these days. His favorite book is his "Blue's Clue's" book that he brings to bed. His favorite movie is "Barney and Friend's Singalong" and his favorite song is "Dangerous" by Akon. He is a fun baby brother to have, although he certainly likes to cause chaos.
NOLAN'S WORDS OF WISDOM: "Dont' bite your friends."

Miss Kendall

Kendall is 4 (almost5), and has started Kindergarten this year. She loves school, and misses her friends and teacher on her days off. Kendall knows all of her letters and their sounds, and can even read quite a bit. She is enjoying her first year in Girl Scouts, and just sold 100 boxes of cookies for her troop! Her favorite book is "I Love You, Little One", and her favorite movie is Cinderella. Her favorite song is anything by Gwen Stefani, especially "Sweet Escape". When she grows up, Kendall would like to be a Dentist. She is a very sweet sister to her siblings, and enjoys her place as the middle child in the family (just like momma).
KENDALL'S WORDS OF WISDOM: "Don't run in the house."

Miss Natalie

Natalie is 8, and has started 3rd grade this year. She likes school, but she likes her days off better. She has become a very good reader, and likes to write stories. She is enjoying her 3rd year as a Girl Scout. Her favorite book is "Weasel" and her favorite movie is "Rockadoodle". She wants to be a singer when she grows up, and her favorite song is "American Boy". She is a very good big sister, and takes her roll as oldest child in the house very seriously.
NATALIE'S WORDS OF WISDOM: "Be nice to others, no matter what..."

Our Family

I've never done anything like this before, but I thought that having blog would be a good way to share my family with anyone who would like to check us out. Yes, I think we're exciting enough for our own web page!!! So, here we are, the Cruise/Edwards family: (Well, the best shot we could get...)
