On Saturday, Natalie's Girl Scout troop had their annual sleepover. This year, they stayed at the Science and Discovery Center in Binghamton. Mom has been lucky enough to be able to go to all of the sleepovers...they have all been fun. This was no exception!!!
We rode with our friends Deb and McKenzie. Deb and Mom work together and enjoyed having a Saturday night off.
They performed several experiments and documented their predictions and conclusions.
Next, the used cabbage juice (stinky!) to determine if certain things were acids or bases. If the liquid turned red when cabbage juice was put into it, it was an acid and if it turned blue, it was a base. The safety goggles were too cute.
Next, they conducted an experiment to see how many drops of water could be held on a coin without overflowing. I'm not sure these results were quite accurate...
Next, the girls tested how fast a ball would roll on different surface areas...they learned about "friction".
The final station was a favorite for the kids and adults: optical illusions. We spent some extra time on that station.
After they earned their badge, the girls were given some time to explore the Science and Discovery Center. We played on some silly bikes first (Deb and Mom are on a tandem bike).
